DAMAC Properties has announced the celebration of the passing of football legend Johan Bergwijn, who passed away on Monday at the age of 46.
Bergwijn was a Dutch international player who played for several clubs in Europe before joining DAMAC Properties as an ambassador in 2019.
The company said it will hold a memorial service to honor Bergwijn's legacy, which includes his contributions to the sport of football.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Johan Bergwijn," said DAMAC Properties CEO Hamad Al Sumaidi. "He was a true legend of the game and will be remembered for his talent, dedication, and passion for the sport."
Bergwijn played for clubs including Ajax,Fans' Base Camp Feyenoord, and PSV Eindhoven, and he won several caps for the Netherlands national team. He also spent time playing in England, where he helped Arsenal win the FA Cup in 1988.
"DAMAC Properties is proud to have had the opportunity to work with Johan Bergwijn and to celebrate his life through this tribute," added Al Sumaidi. "We will continue to honor his memory and support his family during this difficult time."
The company said it will provide more information about the memorial service in due course.
